What is required for Parent Help?

Aspley Little Athletics does not Charge a Parent Help Levy, however Parents MUST take their turn in the Parent Help Roster. Each week requires approximately 60 helpers to run the programme efficently and properly. A Roster System will operate on a Weekly Basis in 4 Groups. Parents must take part in their rostered days.

    Where you can help:

We need 5 Parents each week to assist Russel Thompson our Equipment Officer to get the Equipment out at 8.00am and set up the competition areas and return the equipment at the end of the competition.

Other Helpers are needed at the Jumps and Throws areas to help measure distance and rake pits. There will be key officials at these points to help give advice.

Every Child is given the time for his individual run, so with the Younger Age Groups competing on the back straight and the older athletes on the Front Straight, at least 14 Time Keepers are needed every week. The Chief Timekeeper will show you what to do.

Three Helpers are needed each week to sell Drinks & Snacks at the Canteen each Competition. Please See Rosslyn O'Brien if you can help.

The Club Committee appreciate that some parents may be hesitant to offer their services, basically for fear of making a mistake, but we must have sufficent helpers each week otherwise events may be curtailed or cancelled. The Committee will hold short Courses for all parents to learn rules & proceedures in the first competition weeks.

    When is Competition Held?

We conduct our weekly competitions on Saturday Mornings (8.30am-12 Noon) during during September, October, November, February, March & April and on Friday Nights (5.30-9.00pm) during the hotter months of December and January.

What if my Child is unable to compete some time during the season?

Unlike many winter sports, it is not compulsory to compete at every competition. We understand that sometimes winter sports overlap the Athletics season and it may not be possible to compete at every competition. Please be aware to be eligible for a trophy at the end of the season a child must have taken part in 8 Centre meetings. (Zone Relay Day and Zone Inter-Centre Games are not counted). As decided at a Zone Meeting at Kedron Wavell Services Club in 2003/2004, a child needs to have competed at a minimum of four Centre level competitions prior to nominations closing for the Zone Intercentre Games to Compete in the Zone Intercentre Games.
